The beginning of the new school year in August was filled with excitement! We hosted numerous events and welcomed both new and returning families. The Marching Band Camp was a great success, and during this time, students and families had a wonderful time with a pool party and show-and-tell events for parents.
We received significant assistance from parent volunteers in constructing props for this year's marching band show, "Queen of Hearts." The work was extensive, but thanks to the parents' help, we made great progress. Without the support of parent volunteers, we would not have been able to organize the events in August as successfully.

Band Camp: Aug 5- Aug 16
Despite the hot weather, students are coming to practice all day to prepare for this school year's show.

Parents volunteers are providing significant support for uniform fitting and props building. Even though this is the first year we are preparing huge props for the show, our parents are collaborating and making great progress in props construction. At this moment, we want to extend a huge thank you to all the parents who are supporting this effort.

Pride of Portola Kick Off Pool Party/BBQ (Aug.15th)
Celebrate the success of our first week of Band Camp and kick off the new school year with the "Pride of Portola" by joining us for a fun event with marching band families and friends. We appreciate the support from our parents, and we extend a huge thank you to the volunteers and those who donated food for this event.

Band Retreat (Aug.24-25) and Show Preview
To wrap up Band Camp, students spent a night in the gym after a long day of practice, preparing for a show preview with their parents. The preview was a great success, showcasing the kids' hard work and hinting at an exciting performance ahead. Though it's just the beginning, it has us all eager for the upcoming competitions.
Following the show preview, we enjoyed a potluck lunch with students, directors, coaches, and families. This event was made possible thanks to our parent volunteers and food donations.
